Gregor Mendels 189 Birthday

Even the Egyptians and ancient Hebrews also knew that some diseases were passed down in families. What was a mystery was "Why?" Most people believed in some sort of blending (if they didn't just accept the whole thing as one of God's mysteries), but blending could not explain the occasional appearance of differences from the parents, or even the reappearance of a trait from a grandparent that was not visible in the parent.
